Recent Awards and Honors!

Dave Walsh was given AAHPERD’s 2009 Social Justice and Diversity Young Professional Award (Doris Watson received this same award in 2003)

Paul Wright was inducted as an AAHPERD Research Consortium Fellow in 2009

Don Hellison was given AAHPERD’s Gullick Award in 2008

Paul Wright was given a Health Research Fellowship from the Center for Community Health in 2007 to examine the role of personal and social responsibility in urban physical education

What’s coming up?

Don Hellison is currently working with Human Kinetics, Inc. on the third edition of his popular book on TPSR. 

Paul Wright has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to spend the Spring of 2010 working on a TPSR project in Valencia, Spain.

Paul Wright will be presenting at NASPE’s PETE Conference in South Carolina in October 2009 on the state of personal and social responsibilty in physical education.

Don Hellison and Tom Martinek will soon be publishing a book on developing youth leadership.

Dave Walsh and Paul Wright have research articles accepted or in press with the European journals Sport, Education and Society; Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy

Tenure & Promotion Updates!

Nick Cutforth (University of Denver) is being promoted to Full Professor based on his engaged scholarship agenda.

Paul Wright (University of Memphis) and Dave Walsh (San Francisco State University) both received tenure and were promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 based in large part on their community-engaged work and TPSR research.
